St Andrew's School Pre-Primary, Primary and High School
Established 1963

St Andrew’s, Welkom is a private Anglican school in the heart of the Free State Goldfields. The school has a certain uniqueness in that it is a co-ed school for Grade 00 to Grade 12 pupils. All the phases of education are on the same campus. The school offers an excellent education in a caring Christian environment where each child is encouraged and nurtured to reach his/her full potential.
The St Andrew’s Village consists of six houses which have been converted into a secure clusterhome boarding facility for approximately 25 pupils. A manager/"father" and matron/"mother" reside in the central home and the whole facility is designed and run so as to create a family, "home from home" boarding experience.
The school maintains a consistently high Academic standard. The academic curriculum is enriched by many excursions which form an integral part of our programme. Pupils are also encouraged to take part in Expo’s and Olympiads.
The Media Centre is comprehensive and well stocked with a wealth of books and resources. The Computer Centre is used extensively by all the pupils in the school.
All pupils are encouraged to participate in at least one of the many cultural and community activities offered. Art and music enjoy a very high priority. Other activities include Photographic Club, Community Care, Interact, Cubs and Scouts. The pupils are keen to participate and produce exciting and innovative work.
Sporting activity is encouraged, extremely well attended, and of a good standard. Sports offered at the school are hockey, netball, cricket, swimming, golf, athletics, squash and tennis.
The St Andrew’s staff is dedicated to develop and equip each and every pupil so that they become all that they are called to be.
